At Himalayan Consensus' Shambhala Serai Hotels, all lanterns, bedspreads and pillow cases, and most other fixtures and decorations, are produced by women and disabled artisans supported through micro-finance programs operated by Shambhala. The Tibetan Tiger rugs featured at the hotels are the result of an artisan revival program undertaken by Himalayan Consensus to rejuvenate traditional natural dying and weaving techniques and are produced by a commune of women weavers. Shambhala Serai Heritage Hotels are true community efforts and reflect the pride of local residents in their own traditions and identities.
