










Ambassador Fernando Reyes Matta first visited China in February 1973 as young press adviser of the former Foreign Affairs Minister, Clodomiro Almeida. He participated in the conversation with the Prime Minister Chou-en-Lai. Since 2000 he has joined all the presidential conversations with Presidents Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao. Since 1995 he attended all APEC summits, with the exception in Vancouver in 1997. His role has promoted the public diplomacy about APEC goals. Ambassador Reyes-Matta has lived in the United States as visiting scholar in Stanford University(1974) and Mexico at director of Communication Studies of ILET (Latin American Institute for Transnational Studies, 1977/1982). He is author to various books on his specialty. Between 1978 and 1980, he was adviser of International Commission for Communication of the UNESCO (Mac Bride Commission). He was one of the five writers of the Inform “Many Voices, One World”, which was published by the UNESCO.
