Mr. Suren Badral, a career diplomat from Mongolia, is the Interim Director of the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries based in Ulaanbaatar.
He earned his BA in International Trade from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and later did an MA in Economics at the University of Hawaii.
He has served as Foreign Policy Adviser and Economic Policy Adviser to Mongolian prime ministers. He worked as his country’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN and has been involved in work with many international organizations including The WTO, The Conference on Disarmament and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Mongolia (to Switzerland and Liechtenstein). He was also posted as Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN ESCAP and Deputy Chief of Mission of Mongolia to Laos and Thailand.
In addition to this, he served as Chairman of the 6th and 7th Tripartite Negotiating Meetings on the Draft Transit Agreement between the Governments of China, Mongolia and Russia; Chairman of the WTO Committee on Trade-related Investment Measures (TRIMs); and as Acting President of the Conference on Disarmament.
He is frequently invited to serve as panelist, discussant and resource person to various international fora.
