Nirupama Rao

Nirupama Rao is a retired Indian diplomat. She was India’s first woman spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, the first woman High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, and the first Indian woman ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. She served as India’s Foreign Secretary from 2009-2011. She was also appointed as India’s Ambassador to the United States from 2011-2013.

Satyanarayan Gangaram Pitroda

Satyanarayan Gangaram Pitroda, popularly known as Sam Pitroda, is an internationally respected telecom inventor, entrepreneur, development thinker, and policy maker who is credited for India’s telecommunications and technology revolution of the 1980s. He also served as Advisor to the Prime Minister of India on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovation, with the rank of a Cabinet Minister.

He has over 30 years of experience in the international financial markets and has held senior positions in a number of institutions. He is also a member of the International Advisory Committees of the National Library of Russia


Sun Yuxi is one of China’s most senior diplomats and experienced experts in crisis and conflict management. He has served in the positions of Special Envoy to Afghanistan, and as Ambassador to India, Afghanistan, Italy, Poland, as Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, and now serves as President of the China-Poland Friendship Association. As senior diplomat he has played a key role as a member of China’s delegations to major international forums, including the UN General Assembly, G20 Summit, APEC, Asia-Europe Summit, ASEAN Regional Forum, SCO Prime Ministers’ Meeting, and the Prime Ministers’ Meeting of China and Central Europe.


Dr. David James Molden

Dr. David James Molden is the Director General of the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) an intergovernmental knowledge organization dedicated to mountains and people of the Hindu Kush Himalayan region.  Dr Molden is a researcher and development specialist with skills in water resource management and sustainable mountain development with an interest in integrating social, technical, and environmental aspects of natural resources management. He has experience in leading and implementing development and research work across Asia and Africa, and is now working at the interface of science, policy and practice to help bring knowledge into use for societal benefits. Prior to joining ICIMOD he was the Deputy Director General for Research through 2011 at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI). He has contributed to the publication of over 200 works in books, refereed journals, research reports, the media, and educational materials. He has received many awards including the Outstanding Scientist Award of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) in 2009.
