Searching for Shangri-la: Journey to Himalayan Consensus
"Searching for Shangrila: Journey to Himalayan Consensus" premiered in December at Xin Dong Cheng Space for Contemporary Art. The multimedia installation documents 7 years of experiences that led to the founding of the Himalayan Consensus. Through photographs, journals, and film the exhibition presents the people and places that inspired Laurence Brahm in his journeys through Tibet.
Restoration of a Lama's Palace
The ancient home of a high-ranking Tibetan lama, the Shambhala Palace is tucked into a secluded private lane within the narrow maze of Lhasa’s old city. The restoration was undertaken by a team of Tibetan artisans and is arguably the most exquisite heritage preservation yet undertaken by Shambhala. Consisting of 17 spacious rooms – four of which offer full views of the Potala Palace – each room offers luxury comfort amidst the splendor of ancient Tibet. The rooms overlook a courtyard with wall carvings by master carvings depicting the story of the mythic Shambhala kingdom and the twenty-five legendary kings of Shambhala.
